Delegation of scholars from think tanks in Southeast Asian countries visit Nanjing University

In the afternoon of June 17, a symposium for the delegation of scholars from think tanks in Southeast Asian countries was held at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences of Nanjing University. Relevant comrades in charge of the Ministry of Liaison and Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Province, scholars from five Southeast Asian countries, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, Wang Mingsheng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Minister of Propaganda of Nanjing University, as well as the heads and experts of Social Science Department, Science and Technology Department and Collaborative Innovation Center of South China Sea Studies attended the symposium. The symposium was organized by Chao Nai Peng, Deputy Director of Social Science Department.

Minister Wang Mingsheng delivered a welcome speech and briefly introduced the history and development status of Nanjing University. Jiang Tian, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department, gave an overview of the basic situation of the Collaborative Innovation Center of South China Sea Studies.

During the exchange, Luo Zan, Executive Director of Brunei Center for Strategic and Policy Studies and head of the delegation, took the lead in speaking; Nanto Sriyanto, researcher of the Center for Political Studies, Indonesian Academy of Sciences, and Cai Ruibing, researcher of Brunei Center for Strategic and Policy Studies, successively expressed their views on the South China Sea and interacted positively with scholars such as Zhu Feng, Executive Director and Shen Guzhao, Deputy Director of the South China Sea Center of Nanjing university. Discussions and exchanges took place in topics such as foreign policies of Southeast Asian countries, relations between the United States and Southeast Asian countries, and the South China Sea issue.
